Schanika came to Steepletown to complete her GED. Because of her business interests, she was given a paid work experience at the West Side Garage Store. While working there this past winter she befriended an elderly resident who is a regular customer. When Schanika learned that she needed help shoveling her walk and drive, she would stop over on her way home to help out. Ever since then Schanika visits this elderly neighbor on a weekly basis.
